Last week our youth instructors performed at the Native American Youth and Family Center annual Spring Marketplace event. The event hosts around 30 vendors and around 600 people. This year was the first time the event featured electronic music or video art. Roots and Beats co-founder and youth instructor Cristian Osorio, who performs under the name Psychotropika, played a two hour electronic music set featuring indigenous beats and melodies. Our other co-founder and youth instructor, Stephanie Collier, provided live video art VJ set with images of Native dancers and cultural practices blended with patterns and colors synced to the music. We are honored to have been invited to be part of such a great community event, and we hope to continue to deepen our relationship with NAYA. https://www.facebook.com/NAYAPDX/videos/398486227673675/ Check out more info below.
