This week we welcomed special guest artist Eduardo Cruz and his group Huehca Omeyocan. They taught our students about Mexica musical tradition and culture. The students were able to try out prehispanic percussion and wind instruments and learn how to record, and be recorded in a professional studio. We will be using  audio samples from these recordings to work on their digital compositions for the class. This field trip was sponsored by N.M. Bodecker Creative Foundation who provided use of their in house recording studio and staff time to support our curriculum with Latino Network.  Bodecker Foundation Creative Director, Chris Funk, and Audio Engineer, Adam Lee, gave the students a crash course on recording studio basics. None of the students had ever been in a professional recording studio before, but quickly learned the ropes. It was an amazing experience for everyone involved.
